Ukrainian terminal pump oil to Belarus

A sea oil terminal in Yuzhny, Odessa Oblast, Ukraine, is shipping and piping Venezuelan oil to Belarus.

The terminal has transshipped 80,000 tonnes of Venezuelan oil from the tank ship Sonata. After customs papers are processed, a test batch of Venezuelan oil will be pumped via the oil pipelines Odessa-Brody and Druzhba to the Belarusian company Mozyr Oil Refinery.

The contract for the test pumping of Venezuelan oil to Belarus was signed in late October 2010.

By the end of the year Venezuela is expected to supply 4 million tonnes of oil to Belarus, including around 1.3 million tonnes of oil via Ukraine. So far Belarus has received 2.5 million tonnes of oil from Venezuela.

In line with long-term agreements Belarus is expected to get up to 10 million tonnes of Venezuelan oil every year in 2011-2013.

Oil transportation via Ukraine is handled by the Ukrainian company Ukrtransneft, which is part of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz of Ukraine.
