Belarus-Ukraine Oil Pipeline to Test Pumping in Mid-November

The Odessa-Brody oil pipeline from Ukraine to Belarus was scheduled to test its pumping on November 17, Belarussian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said this week.

Semashko said a total of 80,000 tons of Venezuelan crude will be pumped from Ukrainian port of Pivden via the pipeline and the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline to Belorussian refineries.

"The first averse pumping test along the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline will be carried out on November 17," Semashko said, adding that Belarus purchased oil from Venezuela on a swap deal.

According to a contract Belarus and Ukraine issued earlier, the oil will be pumped in Ukrainian and transported along the Odessa- Brody pipeline to the Mozyr oil refinery in Belarus.

The Odessa-Brody pipeline is a crude oil pipeline between the Ukrainian city of Odessa at the Black Sea and Brody near the Ukrainian-Polish border. On March 24, 2010, Ukraine's ambassador to Belarus proposed the pipeline to begin operating in the averse direction in order to deliver Venezuelan crude to Belorussian refineries.
