Belarus is ready to give information on the Muslim involved in Al Qaeda to the Spanish security services

Belarus KGB is ready to give to the Spanish law enforcement all the necessary information on its detained citizen suspected of being Al Qaeda member. 'Detained Andrey Misyura is a citizen of Belarus, but we have no information about his activity as he was away since 1999', Valery Nadtochaev, director of the KGB public relations office said.

Earlier Russian media reported that the Spanish police detained in Palma de Majorca (Balearic Islands) 30 years old Belarus native - an expert in chemical weapons. His real name is Andrey Misyura. He has embraced Islam recently with the Muslim name of Amin al-Ansari. He is also known by his Slavonic name of Sergey Malyshev. He received sabotage training in Chechnya, Azerbaijan and Pakistan. The Spanish Interior Ministry has specified that the police in several European countries have searched for him and that he is believed to be "a specialist in chemical weapons" and a recruiter of fighters for Iraq's terrorists.

Previously Belarus state security agency refused to comment on reports that a Belarusian citizen had been arrested in Spain. Belarus Interior Ministry spokesman Vitaly Grinkevich said officials had not received any inquiries from Interpol regarding a Belarus citizen. Spain's Interior Ministry said Monday they had broken up a cell in close contact with Al Qaeda and terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. In addition to the Belarus, police arrested eight Moroccans and people from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ghana, France and Spain, the Ministry said.
