China, Belarus to boost economic ties

China and Belarus have signed a joint declaration and other agreements of economic cooperation. This follows Monday's meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Luka-shenko in Beijing.

President Hu said China will support Belarus' speedy entry into the World Trade Organization. He suggested strengthening negotiations and cooperation in matters of common concern. And he advocated joint efforts to deal with international and regional issues to maintain world peace and stability. Luka-shenko stressed his government will continue to adhere to the One-China policy, and is committed to boosting economic links. Luka-shenko's three-day visit is at the invitation of Hu Jintao. This is his third visit to China as president of Belarus.
