Gazprom agrees to meet Belarus halfway on gas issue - Miller

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) has taken steps to meet Belarus halfway regarding all issues of gas deliveries to the republic next year, the Russian gas giant's CEO Alexei Miller told Belarussian First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko at a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, according to Russia's NTV television.

Belarus was presented with very advantageous terms for gas sales in 2007, Miller said. No other CIS member-nation "enjoys the same benefits and privileges today," he said.

"Gazprom agreed with the assessment of the value of Beltransgaz, 50% of which may be used to pay for Russian gas," Miller said.

Beltransgaz was valued at $5 billion, although [Gazprom] views $3.3 billion as this enterprise's maximal value, he said.
