Belarus may continue talks with Gazprom next year

RBC, 27.12.2006, Moscow 12:55:01.Belarus may continue negotiations with Gazprom on natural gas supplies in January-February 2007, Vladimir Semashko, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, said upon his return to Minsk following the talks on the subject in Moscow on Tuesday. According to Mayak radio, Semashko commented on a failure in negotiations by saying that this was another provocation from Gazprom as Belarus was ready to sign the supply and transit contracts. Semashko pointed out that the initial agreement was $75 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas, but the negotiators were offered a different price. He added that it was Gazprom's turn to come to Belarus to hold negotiations.

Semashko also said that Russia had already agreed to negotiate export duties on refined oil products. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov requested that the Russian government review an agreement on the division of duties drafted by Belarus by mid-January.
