Belarus says makes deal with Gazprom

MINSK. Dec 30 (Interfax-West) - Belarussian First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said on Saturday evening that Belarus and Russian natural gas monopoly Gazprom had reached an agreement to set the price for Russian gas for Belarus at $100 per 1,000 cubic meters from January 1, 2007.

Semashko, speaking at a briefing in Minsk, also said Belarus and Gazprom had agreed the charge for Russian gas transit through Belarus to Europe, raising it to $1.65 per 1,000 cubic meters for every 100 kilometers.

However, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said: "We consider it premature to comment on intermediary results [of talks] and we point out that we are holding negotiations on a five-year contract."
