Video Alert: Alexander Milinkevich

BRUSSELS, 12 Dec. (EUX.TV) -- A television report about Belarus opposition leader Alexander Milinkevich is the latest programme added on Tuesday to EUX.TV, the Europe channel.

Milinkevich today receives the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

The 8-minute programme, produced for the Parliament in the 'Eurinfo' series, joins Milinkevich on his campaign trail in Belarus.

It includes comments from Polish centre-right MEP Emil Saryusz-Wolski, former Belarus MP Sergey Skrebets, and Polish socialist MEP Dariusz Kajetan.

The Sakharov prize, previously granted to the likes of Nelson Mandela and Kofi Annan, was awarded to Milinkevich after a decision made by the presidents of the groups in the parliament in October.

Milinkevich ran against Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential elections last March. The results of this vote were condemned by the EU and the US. International monitors said the vote was flawed. Some 82 per cent of the votes went to Lukashenko.
