Condoleezza Rice meets with Belarus oppositionists

WASHINGTON, December 4 (Itar-Tass) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with a group of Belarussian human rights campaigners and activists of the democratic movement here on Monday.

According to a press release circulated by the State Department, the Belarussian delegation comprised seven members, among them former presidential candidate Alexander Milinkevich.

The press release points out that Ms. Rice assured her interlocutors of US support for the democratic aspirations of the people of Belarus, and emphasized that the US would continue to advocate the cause of freedom in Belarus.
