World Bank to evaluate macroeconomic situation in Belarus

A group of World Bank experts is expected to start their official visit to Belarus on December 2, 2008, BelTA learnt from the World Bank representative office in the Republic of Belarus.

The major goal of the mission will be the evaluation of the macroeconomic situation and strengthening of the dialogue with the Belarusian government in the economic issues including the consideration of the issues of macroeconomic reformations, state budget structures, reforms in the energy sector, financial discipline and deregulation, development of the private sector and the social security system.

A group of experts will work under the auspices of Lawrence Button and Marina Bakanova, senior economists of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Department in the Europe and Central Asia region. The World Bank experts are planning to complete their mission in Minsk on December 17.
