Belarus supports Iran's regional stance: Belarusian Parliament Speaker

TEHRAN, Dec. 12 (ISNA)-Belarus supports Iran's stance regarding regional developments, said Belarusian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Andreichenko in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in capital Minsk.

Appreciating Mottaki's tour to Belarus, Andreichenko also expressed hope talks between the two states would help to take more steps for expansion of ties, "I will have an upcoming trip to Iran for raising capabilities for cooperation," he said.

He also expressed satisfaction on shared projects on car production, complex buildings and technical and engineering services on oil and housing sections.

Mottaki for his part said Iranian and Belarusian Presidents have devised a new architecture for Tehran-Minsk ties and "we regard bilateral ties as strategic."

Mottaki heading a high-ranking economic, industrial and political delegation left here for Minsk on Thursday for a two-day visit to hold talks with Belarusian senior officials on bilateral cooperation and developing relations.

He also met with Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky where he voiced satisfaction on mutual oil cooperation and said oil exploration venture in Jofier oil field in Iran has reached a satisfactory level and both sides' companies have gained desired outcomes on the plan's technical and legal aspects.

He also outlined potentials of Iranian construction and industrial companies and contractors to take part in Belarusian economic activities and said the two sides will hold their joint economic commission within the two next months.

Elsewhere he pointed to successful manufacture of Iran's Samand sedan and said the model could compete with foreign cars.

Sergei Sidorsky for his part said the two sides have always discussed economic and industrial projects during their talks and they also need to focus on constructive mechanism to remove obstacles impeding progress.

He also said Belarusian officials are fully ready to implement agreements and highlighted capabilities of Iran and Belarus on various sections.

The trade volume between Belarus and Iran reached at 83.9 million dollars in 2008.

Belarus also launched a Samand sedan assembly in July 2007 whose second line was set to be inaugurated during Mottaki's sojourn.

The two sides are also to open a joint bank, Torgovy Kapital (TK Bank) with the initial fund of over 5 million euros, during Mottaki's trip.
