Belarus president urges implementation of agreements with Iran

Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko called on Friday for implementation of Iran-Belarus agreements.

In his meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, President Lukashenko said that Tehran-Minsk cooperation should be strengthened due to the considerable potentials the two sides enjoy.

Referring to the world financial crisis, he called for Iran- Belarus cooperation to thwart its negative impact on national economies.

Meanwhile, Mottaki extended Iranian President Mahmoud

Ahmadinejad's warm greetings to his Belarus counterpart and invited him to visit Iran.

He said that there is no obstacle to the mutual cooperation.

Iranian foreign minister heading a delegation is visiting Belarus from December 11 and will leave for Tehran Saturday afternoon.

During his two-day stay in Belarus, Mottaki held talks with his Belarus counterpart Sergei Martynov, the country's Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky and Parliament speaker Vladimir Andreichenko on the international, regional and bilateral cooperation.

He also visited the assembly line of Samand (Iranian car) in Minsk and inked an agreement on launching the second phase of production line of Samand with the Belarus Unison auto and parts making complex.
