Belarus calls for expansion of relations with Iran

Belarussian Ambassador to Tehran Victor Rybak said on Friday that exchange of visits by the two sides' high ranking officials would help deepen relations between the two countries.

The Belarussian ambassador made the remark in an exclusive interview with IRNA in Minsk on Friday on the sidelines of the special ceremony for signing an economic contract to launch the second phase of Samand sedan production.

Exchange of visits by the two sides' officials is to take place regularly in the future, he said.

Minsk is to host the 9th Iran-Belarus Joint Economic Commission meeting in February 2009, he said.

He also described the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki to his country as a positive move which led to further expansion of ties between the two countries.
