Iran-Belarus ties will lead to win-win situation: deputy FM

TEHRAN - Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Mohsen Talaii said here on Saturday that Iran-Belarus relations will lead to strategic achievements for both nations.

Belarus is a very important country in the international arena because it was once part of the Soviet Union, and if it works together with Iran, a successful partnership can be formed, Talaii told the Mehr News Agency.

Commenting on the Iranian foreign minister's recent visit to Minsk, he said there are many opportunities for Iran and Belarus to make use of their potential for cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural spheres as well as their similar stances on international affairs.

He went on to say that Tehran sees no limitations to cooperation with Belarus in the spheres of trade and industry, especially oil and gas projects.

Economic ties between Iran and other countries have expanded in recent years despite the illegal sanctions imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council, he noted.

He stated that Iran and Belarus agreed to boost bilateral trade to $1 billion, adding that this shows that the economic sanctions imposed on Iran over the past few years have been ineffective.

Nobody can deny the fact that most countries are seeking to expand cooperation with Iran, Talaii said
