Belarus: President Lukashenko calls for enhancing economic and trade ties between Syria and Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko Friday called for promoting trade and economic cooperation between Syria and Belarus up to the level of the distinguished political ties between the two countries.

"The world has recognized the importance of Syria and its active and pivotal role in the Middle East affairs, President Lukashenko said during a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Ottri, adding "it's impossible to find solutions to the region's problems without Syria.

The Belarusian President hailed the wise political leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and his correct vision and stances towards regional issues and situation.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Ottir conveyed President al-Assad's compliments and best wishes to President Lukashenko, and progress and development to the Belarusian people.

President Lukashenko, in turn, conveyed Mr. Ottri his best compliments to President al-Assad, hoping for meeting President al-Assad as soon as possible.

Premier Ottri and his Belarusian counterpart briefed President Lukashenko on the outcome of the talks held between the Syrian and Belarusian sides to push bilateral economic cooperation forwards.

Prime Minister Ottri discussed yesterday with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Sidorsky bilateral cooperation between Syria and Belarus and means of enhancing them in fields of economy, trade, industry, energy, media and education.

The two sides signed a joint protocol on the outcome of talks held between them, in addition to a cooperation program in sport and culture and a memo to exchange information between SANA and Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
