Belarus to Increase Beef and Pork Exports to Russia in January - October 2008

In January - October 2008, Belarus increased exports of fresh and chilled beef and pork to Russia in comparison with the corresponding period of the last year, as it was reported to agency "Interfax-West" in National Statistics Committee (Belstat).

Pursuant the Committee's data, frozen beef exports to Russia totaled to 29.6 thousand tons in January - October 2008, i.e. down 16.6% to compare with the rate of January - October 2007. At the same time, in value terms the supply grew by 9.8% up to $109.8 million. Exports of fresh or chilled beef increased 1.9-fold up to 22 thousand tons and totaled to $86.4 million in value terms (up 2.6-fold).

Pursuant the results of 10 months, supply of fresh or chilled pork amounted to 28.1 thousand tons and to $94.1 million in value terms (up 2-fold and 2.7-fold respectively, if compared with the rate of the same period of 2007).

Sausage and meat product exports totaled to 16 thousand tons (down 24.5%) and to $33.8 million in value terms in January - October 2008 (down 3%, if compared with January - October 2007). Ready-to-cook product and preserved meat food exports totaled to 11.6 thousand tons (up 67.4%) and to $51.3 million in value terms (up 2.2-fold).

Poultry supply was down 22.5% to 4.6 thousand tons (in value terms: down 15.8% to $9.6 million). Egg exports totaled to 397.6 million eggs (up 6.3%) and to $29.5 million in value terms (up 43.3%).
