Belarus willing to launch economic projects in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - Speaker and acting President Mihai Ghimpu today met new Belarusian Ambassador to Moldova Vyacheslav Osypenko, the parliament's media relations directorate has said.

The sides reviewed the Moldovan-Belarusian bilateral relations, laying the emphasis on economic cooperation. They noted that investments, information technologies, the agro-industrial branch, medicine and pharmaceutics are priorities for the two sides.

The officials noted that it is necessary that the two states' governments speed up the signing of the agreement and programme of economic cooperation between Moldova and Belarus.

Ghimpu emphasized the need to create conditions favourable for marketing Moldovan goods in Belarus. Annually, Moldovan enterprises may export up to 100,000 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables to Belarus.

Mihai Ghimpu and Vyacheslav Osypov also talked about cooperation within the Eastern Partnership, to which Moldova and Belarus are party, as well as within other international organizations.

Vyacheslav Osypenko expressed Belarus' willingness to launch a string of economic projects in Moldova, particularly referring to intentions to help upgrade the trolleybus park in Chisinau.
