OAO Mozyr Oil Refinery, the largest in Belarus, plans to build a gasoline additive unit, allowing it to move its entire motor fuel production to Euro-5 standard.
"Optimistically, we're looking at the end of 2012" for the switch, General Director Anatoli Kupryianau said at the World Refining Association conference in Barcelona. The improved quality will be achieved by building a Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether, or MTBE, unit, he said.
Mozyr already produces some Euro-5 standard gasoline, which limits sulfur content to no more than 10 parts per million. The plant's entire diesel production is already Euro-5 compliant, he said.
