WASHINGTON Dec 20 (Reuters) - The United States on Monday condemned a police crackdown in Belarus that followed the re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko and said the poll results could not be considered legitimate.
"We are especially concerned by excessive force by the authorities," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said. "We cannot consider the election results yesterday as legitimate."
