Yanukovych wishes Lukashenko good luck in presidential election

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has wished his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko victory in the upcoming presidential election.

"I want to wish you every success in the election, because Ukrainians will root for you no less than our friends in Belarus," he said at a meeting with Lukashenko in Astana on Wednesday.

Yanukovych said he hoped to meet with Lukashenko after the election to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

According to the Ukrainian president, Kyiv and Minsk have many areas of common interest, including in third countries.
