Let in Belarusian students, education minister asks Polish universities

Poland's minister of science and higher education Barbara Kudrycka has called for Polish universities to admit Belarusian students expelled from their universities for taking part in anti-Lukashenko protests on Sunday.

"In the face of the recent disturbing actions by the Belarusian authorities, which involved the violation of fundamental rights and civil liberties, which also affected professors and students, I call for Polish universities, for which freedom is the highest value, to express their solidarity with Belarusian students," wrote Kudrycka in a letter addressed to rectors of Polish universities.

The students can count on financial support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Foreign Ministry, Kudrycka assured.

It is estimated that at least several dozen students were expelled from universities in Belarus after the presidential elections. (mg)
