Minsk, Dec 22 (IANS) Belarus Wednesday invited Indian companies to participate in the renovation and construction of energy plants in the country.

During a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Belarus Ramesh Chander, Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky said his country wants India's cooperation in the reconstruction of its energy system and building new hydroelectric power stations, Xinhua reported.

Belarus and India have a good foundation for long-term cooperation, the prime minister said.

At the meeting, Chander expressed India's interest in participating in the privatisation of the state-owned enterprise Belaruskaliy, one of the world's largest producers of potassium-based fertilisers.

'We are also ready to negotiate on potash fertiliser. Not only about supplies, but also about the wide range of issues that you have designated during your mission,' Sidorsky said.
