Belarus: grain products department increased groats production by 10.7%

During January-November period of 2010, enterprises of the grain products department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus produced 46.2 thsd tonnes of groats products, an increase of 10.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, informed the department.

During eleven months of 2010, organizations of the department produced 35.4 thsd tonnes of groats, up 9.6% compared to the level of January-November of 2009. In particular, the organizations produced 10.6 thsd tonnes of fast-cooked groats products (up 14.6%), 159 tonnes of concentrated feed (up 12%).

At the same time, during the reporting period, the enterprises increased production volumes of pearl barley to the level of 8.8 thsd tonnes (up 8.3% compared to January-November of 2009), 6.4 thsd tonnes of peeled barley (down 9.4%), 5.4 thsd tonnes of wheat groats (up 16.5%), including also 4.3 thsd tonnes of semolina groats (up 18.5%). During eleven months of the current year, the production volumes of oats groats and flakes decreased by 2% compared to the last year period - to the level of 12.8 thsd tonnes.

During January-November of 2010, the enterprises produced 8.6 thsd tonnes of buckwheat groats (up 21%), 2.1 thsd tonnes of food peas (up 87.7%), 630 tonnes of millet groats (up 45 times).

Besides, enterprises of the grain products department produced 170 tonnes of maize groats, as opposed to the compete absence of maize groats production in the same period of the last year.
