Belarus says a compromise has been found to resume exports of Russian crude oil through the Druzhba pipeline. They have been halted for three days by a trade dispute. President Alexander Lukashenko's office said the compromise was reached in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A Kremlin official declined immediate comment.
The pipeline carries crude oil from Russia to western Europe and there were fears in the EU that the crisis could lead to a shortfall. Belarus says the Prime Ministers of both countries have been instructed to hammer out proposals to end the dispute and present them to Lukashenko and Putin on Friday.
