MINSK, January 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarus and Russia now have different ideas of the bilateral union, Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said during Sunday municipal elections.
"I understood from consultations with Russian officials that we have different ideas of the union," he said.
"We have always said that we are ready for cooperation only on equal terms," he said. "We have the union treaty, and Belarussians have always complied with it."
Although the notions are different, Belarus and Russia should not abandon their objective of the union, Lukashenko said.
