Pray For Belarus

Assist News reports that Zmitser Fedaruk, an evangelical Christian leader for the youth group, Malady Front participated in a peaceful demonstration on December 12 in order to support Belarussian freedom.

Predictably, Belarussian police broke up the peaceful protest and targeted Fedaruk for special punishment as he had recently been interviewed by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Police beat the 19 year old leader so forcefully that he was rendered unconscious. Yet, Fedaruk does not regret participating in the peaceful protest because he says that he believes in and only fears God. Fedaruk's youth group has had its application for registration denied six times, which gives Belarussian authorities the right to persecute and repress them. However, Fedaruk is not afraid of persecution, and states, < When I joined Malady Front I couldn't understand how people could stand up and be strong, and not be afraid. Later, when I received this faith I understood that only God and faith can help you be brave. In fact, the young people who come to Malady Front are also like this-they are the new generation who can get to this new land. >

* Pray that the Belarussian authorities will have a change of heart and cease the harassment of Malady Front and similar organizations that seek to promote liberty and justice and bring the glory of God to this repressive country.

* Pray that Zmitser Fedaruk will stand strong in his faith and be a shining example of Christ for the people of Belarus.

* Pray that Malady Front will continue to grow and equip Christian youths to one day step out and spread the Gospel to Belarus and the world.

* Pray against the evil spirits that control this former Soviet state.
