Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to visit Belarus

MOSCOW, January 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend a joint meeting of foreign ministers of Russia and Belarus on January 29-30.

"The joint college meetings are regular since 1999, and this testifies to a high level of foreign policy cooperation of our countries, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said.

"Russian-Belarussian interaction in the international arena is oriented towards solving two strategic tasks defense and promotion of the interests of Russia and Belarus, securing favourable external conditions for sustainable socio-economic development," Lavrov said.

It is planned that the sides will adopts at the joint meeting of the colleges a plan of action in the field of foreign policy of the union state for 2008-09, Kamynin said.
