Chernihiv (North Ukraine) is hosting a working meeting of Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, currently on a working visit to Ukraine.
The heads of state are scheduled to discuss bilateral relations, trade economic cooperation, as well as energy cooperation. They will also focus on electricity supplies, efficient use of the transit capacities of the two countries in the context of improving energy security. After a tete-a-tete meeting, bilateral negotiations will be held under chairmanship of the two presidents, including a signing ceremony for Ukraine-Belarus documents. The parties are supposed to sign an energy memorandum between the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers and the Government of the Republic of Belarus, as well as an intergovernmental agreement on simplification of crossing a section of the Slavutych-Chornobyl APP running through the Belarusian territory.
