The Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid, Markus Loning, is setting off tomorrow (14 January) on a two-day visit to Minsk.
The decision to undertake this trip was prompted by the incidents following the presidential elections in Belarus and the detention of opposition members. In Minsk, the Commissioner will meet opposition members, relatives of detained dissidents and government representatives for talks.
Ahead of the trip, Markus Loning met a delegation of Belarusian opposition activists at the Federal Foreign Office on Tuesday (11 January).
