LONDON, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Diesel barge prices fell slightly from more than two-year highs in early trade on Tuesday as problems with Rhine traffic flows helped offset lower imports from Belarus.
The Rhine has been blocked since last week and could remain closed until the weekend after a tanker carrying sulphuric acid capsized, according to the German inland navigation authority. [ID:nLDE70G1EY]
This is trapping the heating and transport fuel diesel in tanks in ARA and preventing it from reaching inland consumers.
But overall, fundamentals for diesel are strong because of better demand from Germany due to fuel switching and a halt in exports from Belarus following an oil price dispute with Russia. [ID:nLDE70G27E]
