Minsk, Belarus (AHN)- Fears of disruption of gas supplies from Siberia to Europe brought about by a recent dispute between Russia and Ukraine prompted Russian gas monopoly Gazprom to start discussing with Belarus' Beltransgaz the increase of gas deliveries through Belarus' pipeline.
Vladimir Mayorov, president of the Belarus' gas transit company, confirmed the talks with Russia's national oil company.
The two countries are in talks on technical capabilities of Belarus' pipeline. In 2007, Belarus was on target with its deliveries at five billion cubic meters.
Gazprom is also a majority stakeholder in Beltransgaz.
