Hapman, the manufacturers of powder and bulk material handling equipment, have recently supplied a Tubular Drag system for the Mozyr Oil Refinery in Belarus, where climatic conditions are demanding!
The Hapman UK business partner Braby, the leading UK manufacturer of silos, tanks and fabrications, were originally approached to construct a skid-mounted silo design for the company, and called upon Hapman to provide a conveying system to complement the design. Sales and Marketing Director Paul Mayer explained their decision: 'The Hapman Tubular Drag was the only viable solution when considering the climatic conditions of Belarus; it functions perfectly under full load and temperatures of minus 40 and is able to meet the stringent vapour barrier requirements'.
The Mozyr Oil Refinery produces a wide range of oil products and is classed as an EeXD IIB area which necessitated all the mechanics, motors, controls and drive systems to be rated under Zone 0 under the DSEAR regulations.
The combination of the finished system is being used for storing and dosing hydrated lime; the process itself was very straightforward, but the environment in which it was installed was very demanding.
The single, most important element of the Tubular Drag is the enclosed construction; this feature protects the product from the outside atmosphere, whilst simultaneously protecting the atmosphere and the worker from the product.
Because the system is completely sealed, it eliminates any toxic or flammable spillage, odours and airborne dust, which could create potential hazards.
Having finished the assembly, representatives from the oil refinery inspected and approved the completed project and were highly delighted with the product and supporting documentation.
