Polish foreign aid to reach $46 mln

WARSAW, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Poland has earmarked a total of 110million zlotys (about 46 million U.S. dollars) for various forms of external aid, local media reported on Wednesday.

They will be directed to, among others, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Afghanistan, Tanzania, Angola and Palestine, according to Polish news agency PAP.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski presented on Wednesday the priorities of Poland's foreign aid. Belarus will be the largest beneficiary of Poland's foreign aid this year, which will receive 26 million zlotys (about 10.9 million dollars) in aid as part of this country's foreign aid program.

Iraq as of this year ceases to be a priority country due to an increased level of threat to people implementing such aid in that country. However, the minister assured that this does not mean that Iraq will be cut off from such aid.

Aid for Afghanistan will reach 8.5 million zlotys (about 3.6 million dollars), out of which 6 million is to be directed to government administration.

Minister Sikorski stressed that thanks to such aid Poland contributes to the stabilization of its international environment and develops economic contacts with the beneficiaries.
