Belarus will deploy Russian-made S- 300 medium-range surface-to-air missile systems in summer, Russian Air Force Commander-in-Chief Gen. Vladimir Mikhailov said on Thursday.
"Belarus is actively preparing sites for deploying the S-300, while we are energetically repairing and upgrading the systems," Mikhailov said at a meeting with foreign military attaches, the Interfax news agency reported.
The systems will be on combat duty in June or early July at the latest, he said.
The S-300 missile systems can hit targets as high as 45,000 meters and strike six targets simultaneously.
