MOSCOW, March 16 (Itar-Tass) - Russia, Belarus have completed coordinating joint activities of the defense structures of both countries in the field of the implementation of international agreements on arms control.
The 28th session of the Joint consultative group for weapons control has ended in Belarus, a source from the Russia Defense Ministry told Tass. On the agenda were problems of coordination of the activities of the two defense departments that were discussed for five days.
A protocol on further cooperation between the defense departments of the two countries for the realization of international agreements on arms control has been signed, a source from the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Lieutenant-General Nikolai Artyukhin, who is Chief of Russia's National Center for reducing nuclear threat, headed the Russian delegation to the consultations. On the agenda of the Minsk meeting were also problems pertaining to control over implementation of the START-1, CFE treaties, Vienna agreements on measures of building up confidence and security and the Open Skies Treaty.
