Rowers Arrested For Crossing Border

Ukrainian border guards have arrested the Belarussian national rowing team for illegally entering the country in eight boats.

They say the coastguard intercepted 10 rowers who had crossed into Ukrainian waters from Moldova.

Team members told officials they were unaware they had crossed the border.

The Belarussians had been invited to train for the world championships in Transdniestria, a region of Moldova controlled by separatists, as reservoirs in their own country were still covered in ice.
