Belarus started spring filed works

Belarus has just started spring field works. In the nearest days, agricultural organizations of the southern regions of Brest, Homyel and Minsk oblasts will first start spring sowing campaign. These regions got free from snow blanket and night air temperatures raised above zero, which supports to fast drying of top soil layers and allows agrarians to work in fields, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The economies of the regions have already started providing of mineral fertilizing of winter grains. Agrarians started tillage operations and moisture exclusion.

As a reminder, in 2008 Belarus increased winter sowings to 1.3 mln ha or 52% of grain areas. Winter rapeseed areas totaled nearly 374 thsd ha, up 93.000 ha.

Belarus plan to provide the spring sowing campaign throughout 2.31 mln ha, including 1.19 mln ha of grains and legumes.
