MINSK. March 3 (Interfax) - Belarusian defense minister Col. Gen. Leonid Maltsev and his Syrian counterpart Gen. Hassan Ali Turkmani, who is on a visit to Belarus, both called for closer military cooperation between their countries.
"Our relations are developing successfully, but there is a great potential both in Belarus and in Syria for their further development in the military, military technological and other spheres," Maltsev said.
At the meeting Turkmani, expressed interest in the resources of Belarus' defense industry.
"Belarus sees the Syrian Arab Republic as a key partner in many spheres in the Middle East region," Maltsev said.
Turkmani arrived in Belarus on Monday and is due to stay in the country until Thursday.
