MOSCOW, March 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has submitted the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the field of radio electronic warfare, signed in Moscow on December 10, 2009, to the State Duma to ratify.
The president did so in accordance with Paragraph D of Article 84 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the Federal Law On International Treaties of the Russian Federation, the Kremlin press service said.
The draft agreement was considered on March 1, this year, at the board meeting of the Russian government. The document sets the legal basis regulating interaction in the area of radio electronic warfare to ensure military security in the region, which will help more fully implement the provisions of the agreement of December 19, 1997, between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on joint regional security ensuring in the military sphere, the materials for the meeting explained.
In November 2009, the Russian president instructed the Defence Ministry to negotiate and sign an agreement with Belarus on cooperation in the radio electronic warfare area.
