Belarus has held the country's first Iranian film week, screening movies by veteran and young directors in the capital city of Minsk.
Rasoul Molla-Qolipour's M for Mother, Shahriar Bahrani's Virgin Mary, Dariush Mehrjui's Hamoun, Masoud Kimiaei's Crime, Seyyed Reza Mirkarimi's As Simple as This and Bahram Beizaei's When We Were All Asleep are among the films that will be screened during the event.
“Realism and focusing on the spiritual aspects of life is the distinctive feature of Iranian films which distinguishes them from Western productions,” IRNA quoted Director of the Cinematography Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Culture Oleg Silvanovich as saying.
The Iranian film week in Belarus will be held with the aim of introducing Iranian cinema to the people of Eastern Europe. who will also get the chance to take part in panel discussion sessions on the sidelines of the event.
Iranian film weeks have been held in many Asian and Western countries, attracting scores of film enthusiasts.
Bulgaria, the Philippines, Canada, the US, Thailand and the Netherlands are among the many countries where Iranian film weeks have been held.
