Prague, March 29 (CTK) - Some 20 people staged a demonstration of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners in Prague Tuesday.
They carried posters in Czech and English, reading for instance "Stop political violence in Belarus" and demanded new democratic elections to be held in the country.
Another demonstration in support of democratic forces in Belarus, also attended by about 20 people, was held in Prauge in end-January.
The participants, most of whom speaking Belarusian, called for the release of political prisoners and an end to the repressions against opponents of the Belarusian government.
Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg criticised Belarus President Alexandr Lukashenko's regime in January. He said current Belarus is a dictatorial regime that cannot be tolerated.
He denounced the repressions of Lukashehko's administration against its opponents after the December presidential elections which Lukashenko again won.
The Belarusian opposition considers the elections rigged.
The Czech Interior Ministry confirmed last week that it granted political asylum to Belarusian opposition politician Ales Mikhalevich who was running unsuccessfully against Lukashenko in the December elections.
The European Union decided to impose sanctions on Belarus in January.
