Fixed-capital investment grows 30% in Belarus in Q1

MINSK. April 23 (Interfax) - Investment in fixed capital in Belarus in January-March 2007 increased 30.1% year-on-year to 4.25 trillion Belarussian rubles, a source in the country's Statistics and Analysis Ministry told Interfax.

According to the Statistics Ministry, of total used investment in the first quarter this year, industry accounted for 31.5%, which was a growth of 36.1% to 1.3 trillion rubles. Housing construction accounted for 21.2%, or 901.1 billion rubles (up 29%) and agriculture for 11.1%, or 470.3 billion rubles (up 41.6%).

The official exchange rate on April 23 was 2,145 Belarussian rubles to the dollar.
