HANOI, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam and Belarus agreed here Monday that they will strengthen the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation between the two countries, Vietnam News Agency reported.
When meeting with the visiting President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksander Lukashenko on Monday, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Nong Duc Manh affirmed that Vietnam is striving to ceaselessly reinforce and develop the traditional friendly and multifaceted cooperative relations with Belarus, especially on economy, trade, science and education.
Manh thanked the Belarus government for having created favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to study and work in Belarus.
Lukashenko confirmed that Belarus always considers Vietnam a reliable partner and friend, and wants to foster the bilateral all-round cooperative ties, in a stable, fair and win-win manner.
He said his country is ready to act as a bridge for Vietnam to expand cooperation with Middle European countries in particular and Europe in general.
Belarus wants Vietnam to act as a bridge for Belarus to beef up cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, said Lukashenko.
Earlier, Lukashenko held talks with Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
