The new Polish ambassador to Belarus Leszek Szerepka has handed his accreditation letters to president Alexander Lukashenko.
The Belarusian head of state said during the ceremony that good neighborly relations remain at the core of Minsk’s foreign policy.
President Lukashenko assured that reinstating normal cooperation with Poland based on equality and mutual respect are among the priorities for his administration.
Polish-Belarusian relations worsened dramatically following the 19 presidential elections in Belarus, which the EU and Us denounced as being rigged in favour of Lukashenko.
The new Polish ambassador in Belarus is a graduate of Warsaw University where he majored in history. Leszek Szerepka has been an expert of the Center For Eastern Studies.
In his previous diplomatic assignments he also held the post of Poland’s deputy ambassador in Ukraine and First Secretary of the Polish embassy in Moscow. (
