MTS eyes state-owned stake in MTS Belarus

Russian operator MTS is ready to acquire the 51 percent state-owned stake in mobile operator MTS Belarus for a reasonable price, according to Oleg Rasponov, the head of the MTS Foreign Companies unit, reports Tut.by. MTS currently owns 49 percent of the Belarusian operator. Rasponov didn't say if MTS had made an offer to the Belarusian government. Alexander Lukashenko, the Belarusian president, named a price of USD 1 billion for the stake in March.
