MOSCOW, May 21 (PRIME-TASS) -- Belarus' debt to Russia's Gazprom for natural gas supplies has now risen to U.S. $192 million since the beginning of the year, Gazprom's spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told PRIME-TASS on Friday.
Belarus' debt amounted to $137 million as of late March and has now further increased by $55 million, he said.
Belarusian gas pipeline operator Beltransgaz has decided not to pay for gas at the contracted price, but at a price it sets itself, Kupriyanov said, adding that Belarus' debt could thus increase to $500 million-$600 million by the end of this year.
