Azerbaijan and Belarus are expected to sign a number of intergovernmental agreements during Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's Baku visit in the first half of 2010, Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolai Patskevitch said at the news conference today.
"To date, Azerbaijan and Belarus have formed the legal base of over 50 bilateral agreements that regulate the activity of Azerbaijani and Belarusian enterprises," he said. "But we believe that this is not enough, so about 20 documents are still under development."
Patskevitch said about 10 agreements are under development and will be submitted for signing during Lukashenko's visit.
"Today, departments have already agreed on a draft agreement on the mutual investments protection, which will help resolve liquid investment issues," Patskevitch said.
The sixth meeting of an Azerbaijan-Belarus intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is expected to be held on the eve of Lukashenko's visit. The commission was established in 2004.
