On June 13 Belarusian journalist Andrey Shantorovich addressed to Kharkiv Regional State Administration Department on Minorities and Migration with request to grant him a refugee status by political causes. He revealed it on Wednesday.
According to his words, he was persecuted by Belarusian authorities because of his professional activity. He has been a chief editor of "Mestnaya Gazeta" (Local Newspaper) out in Volkovyske with circulation of 8,000 since 2001. The main publications were related to the investigations of corrupted officials of the country.
The journalist says that Kharkiv Regional State Administration has accepted the address.
