Measures toward the Belarusian dairy products cannot be called the sanctions against that country by Russia, the problem will be discussed by professional agencies, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference after talks with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Martynov, RIA Novosti reported.
"Russia does not introduce any sanctions against Belarus. New regulations operate in Russian since December 2008 and they describe the quality of dairy products and determine in which packages, with contents in relation to customers, the products must be sold on the Russian market," Lavrov said.
Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov said that the technical regulations of both countries must be respected. "We do not see the policy in these measures," he said.
On June 6, the head of the Russian consumer control has already decided to ban the import of 500 kinds of Belarusian dairy products to Russia due to the fact that their paper have not yet been legalized in accordance with Russian technical regulations, which came into force in December 2008.
Yesterday the state head doctor Gennady Onishchenko told the Russian RIA Novosti that the Russian consumer control will prohibit the supply of dairy products from Belarus to Russia on another 800 items.
