TEHRAN -- The Iranian ambassador to Belarus has said the expansion of ties between Tehran and Minsk will not be detrimental to any third country.
In a recent interview with a Belarusian news agency, Ambassador Abdollah Hosseini said he is optimistic that the two countries will rapidly expand their relations.
Hosseini called the recent remarks of Israel's foreign minister and its ambassador to Belarus wrong, saying Iran is in favor of total nuclear disarmament so that all nations can live in peace and tranquility.
During a trip to Minsk last week, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman called Iran a threat to world peace, but the Belarusian Foreign Ministry dismissed his remarks.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry also said that Iran-Belarus relations are based on mutual respect.
Hosseini also announced that the Iranian and Belarusian presidents will probably hold a meeting in the near future
